TODAY’S GUEST
Like many kids (and adults), Eva can be shy when she is meeting people for the first time. This often comes as a surprise to our audience since Eva is so outgoing on the podcast. We know that Eva can be very charming once she warms up, but we were looking for ways to build her confidence when she meets people for the first time. That’s why we were so excited when Vanessa Van Edwards agreed to be a guest on the show. Vanessa is a best selling author & lead investigator at her human behavior research lab, Science of People. Her groundbreaking book, Captivate: Use Science to Succeed with People was chosen by Apple as one of the most anticipated books of 2017. She writes a monthly Science of Success column for Entrepreneur Magazine and the Huffington Post.
Eva got so much value out of the conversation with Vanessa, and she used her advice to meet and make new friends on our summer vacation. We know you Big Dreamers will love all of Vanessa’s practical tips as well!
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- Why Vanessa calls herself a “recovering boring person” (and you’ll see how she is definitely not boring anymore!)
- What “turtling” is, and why you shouldn’t do it.
- Tips on how you can feel confident when you walk into a room.
- Vanessa’s advice to kids who are nervous about making new friends at school.

- Vanessa’s BIG DREAM for the future.
RESOURCES
In this episode, Vanessa shared some amazing tips for making new friends — one of which was to ask questions where you can anticipate that your answer will be “Me Too.” She even challenged our Big Dreamers to ask 3 questions this week where you’ll be able to respond “Me Too!” (listen at 22 minute mark of interview). We know that if you’ll try this challenge, you’ll find how simple and powerful just two words — “Me Too!” — can be when you are trying to connect with someone for the first time. We even created this inspirational artwork to encourage you to take Vanessa’s challenge. As always, our Dream Big Podcast downloads can be customized with your face and name, and it is 100% free to download.
If this coming week you complete the “Me Too!” challenge, please let Olga know by emailing her at [email protected]. You will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon Gift card. Winners are selected monthly and contacted by email (as well as announced on our show!).
